Mona is a physiotherapist with 20 years of experience. Mona's special interest is in treating neurological conditions such as Strokes, Parkinson's disease, traumatic brain injuries and multiple sclerosis. She treats patient in both Home and Clinical settings.
Mona believes in continuously upgrading her skills and knowledge. She is certified to administer LSVT BIG: a research based exercise approach for Parkinson's disease; she is trained in the application of FES (Functional Electrical Stimulation) in Rehabilitation for Multiple Sclerosis and holds a Basic Bobath Certification: a technique used to treat stroke and other neurological patients.
She continues to attend various workshops and education event such as Intensive task-specific practice to improve upper and lower extremity function post-stroke, Normal human movement and balance control workshop, Analysis and treatment of Gait-an advanced Bobath Course, the study of Human Movement - the Bobath Concept, GRASP workshop for upper limb rehab after stroke, If you can't breathe, you can't function: Integrating Cardiopulmonary & Postural Control Strategies in Pediatric & Adult Populations to name a few recent ones. She uses a combined treatment approach to treat her clients. Mona believes in evidence based practice. She has also participated in physiotherapy research activities.
As an owner of MapleCare Physiotherapy Clinic, Mona promotes professional development activities, team work, patient centered care, organizing education workshop for physiotherapist in National capital region and provides clinical education to students from the University of Ottawa Physiotherapy Program. Mona regularly participates in inter professional activities for stroke.
Mona is a mother of two. She enjoys time with family, friends and the study of philosophy.
