How do I know if my child needs physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is great to address many conditions in paediatrics such as:
- intoeing gait (tripping over feet a lot)
- toe walking
- gross motor delay
- genetic conditions
- cerebral palsy
- Down Syndrome
- neonatal complications/birth difficulties (ex: hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy)
- torticollis
- delay in reaching developmental milestones (rolling, sitting, crawling, walking…etc)
- diastasis recti
- poor posture
- unintegrated primitive reflexes
- toe walking
- after having a cast
- rehab for sprains and breaks
- gait and sport optimization (running or performative sports)
- fatigue
- low tone
- poor coordination (behind compared to their peers)
- poor protective reflexes
- ….and many more!
We focus on optimizing gait, alignment, practicing hand-eye coordination and overall body agility and awareness through fun and engaging treatments and exercise plans. Typically, we will work through a 6-8 week plan, with 1-2 visits per week, based on the physiotherapy assessment that will best address your child’s needs.
Our Paediatric Physiotherapy Services Include:
- Individualized Assessments: Comprehensive evaluations to understand your child’s specific needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
- Therapeutic Play: Engaging activities that make therapy fun while promoting motor skills, balance, and coordination.
- Family Education: Guidance and support for parents and caregivers to help continue progress at home.
- Collaborative Care: Working closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to your child’s well-being.
What is Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI)?
Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) is an innovative therapeutic technique designed to promote optimal movement patterns and enhance functional abilities in children. This evidence-based approach is particularly effective for addressing a range of conditions, including developmental delays, cerebral palsy, and other neuromuscular disorders. By utilizing DMI, Jamie Dan can help your child improve their strength, coordination, and overall mobility.
