Maple Care Physiotherapy is pleased to announce a two-day workshop on NDT principles related to coordination of movement of the trunk and upper extremity for active support in functions, through transitional movement, for developing reach and open chain activities for Physio & Occupational therapists. It is one of the most evidence-based interventions used in neurologic rehabilitation.
The two-day workshop will provide participants with an understanding of the principles of the NDT approach to the treatment of adults with neurological impairments and particularly as applied to the management of the hemiplegic upper extremity. They will demonstrate a basic skill for analyzing normal and abnormal movement as it relates to the trunk and upper extremity function for support in postures, during some transitional movement and in some open chain functions. Demonstrating basic handling skills to improve shoulder and hand mobility, reduce pain and facilitate scapula control in coordination with trunk and upper extremity movements.
Karen Guha is a Physiotherapist at Grand River Hospital and Back Works Spinal and Sports Rehabilitation. She received her Physical Therapy degree from the University of Toronto in 1996 and became NDT trained in 1999. Karen became a NDTAâ„˘ PT Instructor in 2007, a NDTAâ„˘ Coordinator Instructor in 2011, and a NDTAâ„˘ advance course Instructor in 2014. Karen completed her certification in Integrated Dry Needling in 2017. She has over 20 yearsâ€™ experience working with adults with neurological impairments in acute, rehabilitation and outpatient settings. Karen has taught NDT courses throughout North America internationally.
Who Should Attend
Physiotherapists & Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Pathologist, Therapy Assistant or Kinesiologist who has attended a 2, 3, or 5 day introductory NDT/Bobath Course from a qualification NDTAâ„˘ or IBITA instructor.
